Pizza Pizza

Pizza is one of my favorite foods. With a neverending list of toppings and various preparations (thin crust, deep dish, stuffed crust...), you could eat a completely different pie every day!

So, as a wrap-up to The Bookshelf's restaurant week, how about my 5 favorite pizza places in DC??? One for every day of the week :)

1. Matchbox

Location: Capitol Hill (right next to Cava, the Greek tapas place. Sometimes it's really hard to choose between the two)

Pie FYI: Thin crust, wood fired, a little smoky

2. Two Amys

Location: Cleveland Park

Pie FYI: Thin crust, authentic (try the risotto balls, too)

3. We the Pizza

Location: Capitol Hill

Pie FYI: More of a New York style. Spike Mendelsohn from Top Chef owns this place and is often seen spinning some dough

4. Seventh Hill

Location: Capitol Hill near Eastern Market

Pie FYI: All of their specialty pizzas are named for DC streets and parks on the Hill. The Union Station is not your ordinary cheese pizza (goat cheese, mozzarella, pecorino, gorgonzola, garlic). They also bake Nutella in pizza dough...heaven.

5. Jumbo Slice

Location: Close proximity to the bar (multiple locations)

Pie FYI: You're gonna want this late night...

  1. LOVE PIZZA. I keep going to my usual spots though including Two Amys (....and Jumbo Slice LOL). I think I'm going to have to try some of these others out!
