Crumbelievable

I know, I know. Cupcake shops are taking over city blocks and strip malls like Starbucks and nail salons, but Crumbs is by far the best.

Oddly enough, my boss introduced me to Crumbs while we were traveling for work in New Jersey a few months ago (you would think it was his 5th birthday given his kid-in-the-candy-store-excitement). At the time, Crumbs bake shops were limited to the northeast and the west coast. Fortunately, Crumbs has recently made the move to the DC area and has graced us with 2 locations that are both metro-accessible (Clarendon and the train concourse at Union Station).

What makes them the best you ask? I'll let these images do the talking...

Blackbottom cheesecake

Cookie dough

Baba booey

Elvis (peanut butter and banana, of course)

S'mores

Need more reasons? Crumbs cupcakes come in 3 sizes: mini, or the "taste" size; classic, like the regular store-bought variety; and signature, which at a whopping 6 ounces, looks more like a muffin. They also freshly bake more than 50 varieties a day, meaning that, as the website puts it, "each Crumbs Bake Shop is an oasis of wall to wall deliciousness."

Don't live in DC? Check out the Crumbs website to see if there is one near you. There's not a bake shop in your 'hood? No worries. Crumbs also ships cupcakes anywhere in the 48 contiguous states. Hooray!
